Lucy Ng’endo Njoroge is an engineer who prides in providing renewable energy services and water purification systems for a clean and green environment.
She grew up in a village in western Kenya. She comes from a family of 9 (4 brothers and 2 Sisters) and she is the third born. She attributes to a simple life with her father being a hawker and mother a house-wife.
She schooled at St Teresa primary school -Matunda and attained 572 marks KCPE earning a space in the Kenya High School. This however came with challenges of school fees whereby, she would be sent home to get school fees. Many at times her parents who could not afford the fee would only manage to borrow her fare back to school.
It is during this stressful and desperate period that FAWEK came to her aid by paying all her school fees for form three and four. They also bought her new school uniform. She remains grateful for the noble call by FAWEK.
As she grew up, Lucy wanted to be a doctor as that is what her father wanted for her. However, while at Kenya High school there was a turning of her career, the minister of water then (Prof Martha Karua) came to Kenya High School to commission the borehole that had been drilled within the school compound. Lucy was impressed with the minister as she had the notion that engineering was only for men. Since then she worked harder to become an engineer.
She joined JKUAT University where she was pursuing Bachelor degree in soil, water and environmental engineering. She completed with a second-class honor (upper division).
She worked with Davis & Shirtliff Ltd as a sales engineer for 2 years. She later joined Epi Center Africa LTD for 5 years as a senior Sales engineer. Currently she has her own energy firm Glacier Green Africa LTD that provides affordable and sustainable water and power solutions. The company was incorporated in 2017 and has so far stretched its services/presence in several counties and aims to Have footprints in sub-Sahara Africa.
Lucy has great ambitions in mentorship, discipleship and project management. During her free time, she enjoys her family (her loving husband and her two admirable daughters). She part time farming for business.
All these she owes her success to God who has remained faithful and sustained her life, to this far.Her loving family and supportive friends. And to FAWEK who were kind enough to pay her school fees. She is appreciative to the government of Kenya too.
She is a FAWEK alumni and looks forward to continuously working together with her team in giving back to the society for the betterment of our well being.
