GPE-KIX, Tuseme A voice for Internally Displaces Persons and Refugee Children
Tuseme -A voice for IDP and refugee Children project is supported by the Global Partnership for Education Knowledge and Information Exchange (GPE-KIX), a joint endeavor with the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) Canada. The project is implemented in a consortium of their organization namely. Forum for Africa Women Educationalists (FAWE), Higher Education Resource Services East Africa (HERS-EA), and Australian Council for Education Research (ACER-UK) are exploring educational innovations in Kenya, Uganda, and Ethiopia to support refugee and Internally Displaced (IDP) girls by identifying their academic and social development needs and social development and advocating for effective interventions.
To develop a revised Tuseme model and supporting tools for deployment in refugee and IDP settings, equipping children with essential skills and agency to overcome educational barriers.
The project targets refugee and IDP children in Kenya, Ethiopia, and Uganda, it focuses on12 schools, 4 schools in the implementing countries
The project focuses on Refugee and Internally Displaced Learners, both boys and girls. The focus is on 4 schools in Kenya 3 primary schools; Malakal, Hagadera and Runyu and 1 Secondary school (Somali Bantu)
The project is still in the early stages of research, so far, we have been able to reach over 600 people directly from the engagements and the activities we have completed so far
